We are looking for a motivated and dynamic leader to fill the position of Head of Early Years and join our team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who will support the Head of School in both the strategic planning and the day-to-day management of the Early Years School. The Head of Early Years will motivate, coordinate and develop the EY staff and resources while strengthening the curriculum offer and the students’ growth.
Key Role and Responsibilities
- Promote the philosophy of the school;
- Ensure pupils’ safety and welfare through effective approaches to safeguarding as part of duty of care;
- Create a culture where pupils experience a positive and enriching school life;
- Uphold educational standards in order to prepare pupils of all backgrounds for their next phase of education and life;
- Implement agreed school policies and developments and ensure good day-to-day management of school;
- Encourage high standards of behavior from pupils, built on rules and routines that are understood by staff and pupils;
- Ensure a culture of positive praise and rewards are used consistently across every phase of EY;
- Ensure smooth and effective progression through key transition points, including liaison with the Primary Leadership Team (PLT);
- Make sure the teaching team works effectively with parents and carers and professionals to identify additional needs and provide support where appropriate;
- Under the direction of the Head of School, identify professional development opportunities for the EY staff;
- Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and leader of well-being to ensure students are supported in a pastoral context;
- Monitor pupil attendance and ensure it is continuously improving;
- Effectively communicate the school's key messages and values, be an ambassador for our school at all times;
- Support the life of the school beyond the classroom;
- Keep up to date with developments in education.
Your profile
- Degree in Education (or related field);
- Qualified Teacher Status or international teaching qualification;
- Qualified to teach children of Early Years;
- Mother tongue English is essential;
- Fluency in Italian is desirable but not essential.
- Prior leadership experience in an international school environment;
- A positive attitude that inspires staff and students;
- Ability to lead by example and inspire colleagues to follow;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills;
- Good team builder with leadership skills to oversee progress, guide activities, and steer a team towards achieving objectives;
- Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development;
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively;
- Commitment to getting the best outcomes for all pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school;
