We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Visual Arts Teacher with a strong background in the IB DP curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about teaching and learning and thrives in a multicultural and collaborative school environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong drawing and painting skills as well as an ability to work in 3D. All teachers at ICS Milan are expected to effectively develop and deliver the curriculum to excellent standards.

Key Responsibilities:

o Teach high school Visual Arts courses as part of the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP), including Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL), ensuring the delivery of engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons;

o Teach classes in IGCSE and /or MYP ( dependent on experience);

o Expand the students' use of individual and collaborative strategies to generate concepts and ideas;

o Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the IB DP curriculum and promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning;

o Assess students' progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to encourage academic growth;

o Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that caters to the diverse learning needs of students, using differentiated teaching strategies;

o Incorporate new technologies and tools in the creative process;

o Teach students how to identify elements of art and design and apply them to create concepts;

o Further the students' knowledge of visual arts and media through art theory and history;

o Develop an aesthetic understanding and appreciation that allows students to make qualitative judgments about art;

o Enable students to create a functional portfolio of their art works;

o Plan, coordinate and prepare art displays and exhibitions for the school and community;

o Evaluate each student's performance on a continual basis and prepare evaluative student reports;

o Ensure the required standards of classroom management and student behaviors are met;

o Encourage a growth mindset and develop students' passion for Art, helping them build essential skills for their future academic and professional endeavours;

o Collaborate with colleagues in the Arts Department and across the school to share best practices and resources.

Education and Experience:

o Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or equivalent;

o Qualified teaching certificate/licensure appropriate for grade level and subject area;

o Proven experience teaching IB DP Visual Arts (both Higher Level and Standard Level) or equivalent experience in international education;

o Familiarity with the IGCSE and MYP curricula is an advantage;

o Strong understanding of the principles and practices of inquiry-based learning and assessment in the IB system;

o Strong foundation in classroom management.

o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities;

o A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving, with a focus on continuous improvement;

o Ability to work under pressure and adapt to the needs of the school and students;

o Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
