As a PE teacher at the English Gate School you will be responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of the PE curriculum to our students in the Elementary and Middle school.

You will ensure that the lessons are relevant for the age group and the content and with the goal of encouraging a lifelong love of physical activity. 

Main Responsibility and Accountability Areas

  • To lead the successful delivery of PE and Physical Development for the primary and middle school
  • To inspire and enthuse members of the team, with a clear vision for the future direction of the PE Department.
  • To ensure a clear, through school curriculum.
  •  To develop an innovative and progressive curriculum in PE and Physical Development
  • To utilise the shared spaces creatively
  • To safeguard young people by ensuring that all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to in lessons and preparation areas.
  • To lead the development of differentiated schemes of work at so that every young person makes progress in their learning.
  • To keep up to date about subject development and to take part in relevant Professional Development for this purpose, disseminating to other staff where appropriate.
  • To provide regular reports on student performance based on internal assessment data and to plan effective interventions as appropriate.
  • Promote the ‘mission’ and philosophy of the school, ensuring that students are working towards being global citizens.
  • Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting are of the highest quality and meet the varying learning and social needs of students.
  • Create a lesson environment that is inclusive and where all students feel comfortable.
  • To demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach and assess effectively and take active responsibility for student progress.
  • Use tracking, monitoring, and intervention processes to advance student learning.
  • Communicate effectively to the school’s stakeholders, being an ambassador for the school at all times.
  • Take personal responsibility for professional development.
  • Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development.
  • Ensure school policies are understood and followed consistently.

Your profile 

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Bachelor of Education degree (or equivalent);
  • Qualified Teacher Status or international teaching qualification;
  • Qualified to teach elementary and middle school students.
  • Mother tongue English or C2 level.

EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching in a Primary/Middle school;
  • Demonstrates creativity and a passion for teaching and a strong work ethic;
  • Experience with innovative teaching and learning;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills;
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of the school, the academic and co-curricular directions;
  • Be enthusiastic, energetic, and able to nurture unique learning experiences for students;
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment;
  • The ability to share outstanding practice;
  • The ability to develop inclusive classroom practice across the school;
  • Commitment to safeguarding and equality;
  • Commitment to always maintaining confidentiality;
  • Independent/International school and coaching/extracurricular experience are all assets.
