The Clover School a Globeduate Canada Inc. school is committed to providing a truly child-centered, research aligned educational model by bringing Montessori’s methods and pedagogy into a 21st century urban learning environment that focuses on respect for child-centered inquiry, innovation and mastery of both skills and knowledge.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and child-centred Physical Education teacher to join  our Montessori community. The ideal candidate understands how movement supports the whole  child and brings creativity, warmth, and a love of play to every class.

The Physical Education Teacher designs and delivers developmentally appropriate movement  programming for children from the Toddler level through Grade 6. Working within the Montessori  philosophy, this role emphasizes intrinsic motivation, joyful movement, cooperation, and the  development of lifelong healthy habits.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate physical education lessons for toddlers, primary (Casa), lower elementary, and upper elementary students.

• Design programming that integrates Montessori principles — fostering independence, choice, and intrinsic motivation in movement and physical activity.

• Introduce and teach a variety of fundamental movement skills, sports, games, dance, yoga, and outdoor activities suited to each developmental stage.

• Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and supportive gym environment where every child feels  capable and confident.

• Collaborate with classroom guides to align physical programming with broader school themes and student goals.

• Monitor and support the physical, social, and emotional development of students through movement.

• Establish and maintain clear safety protocols for equipment use, gym routines, and outdoor spaces.

• Support students with diverse needs by differentiating programming and adapting activities as required.

• Participate in school events, assemblies, and community-building activities such as Sports Day.

• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and participation as appropriate.

• Maintain gym equipment and report any safety concerns to administration.

Qualifications

Required:

• Specialization or significant experience in Physical Education or Kinesiology

• Experience teaching children across a range of ages and developmental stages

• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification

• Clear criminal reference check (Vulnerable Sector)

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching certification

• Familiarity with Montessori philosophy and pedagogy

• Experience in early childhood or toddler programming

• Training or background in movement-based learning, yoga, or dance

• Experience adapting programming for students with diverse learning needs

• Coaching certifications or experience in organized youth sport

Who You Are

• Warm, patient, and deeply respectful of children at every stage of development

• A collaborative team player who communicates openly with colleagues and families

• Energetic and adaptable: able to shift seamlessly from a toddler class to a Grade 6 volleyball unit in the same day

• Committed to equity, inclusion, and creating a space where all children belong

• A reflective practitioner who is always growing in their craft

Working Conditions

• Active, physical role requiring regular movement, lifting, and time on your feet

• Work takes place in a gymnasium, outdoor play areas, and occasionally in classrooms

• Schedule follows the school calendar
