Coruña British International School is a highly distinguished British international school the first in the city to gain NABSS (National Association for British Schools in Spain) accreditation. The school’s curriculum has been fully approved by both the Galician Government and the British Council, and is considered to be, alongside its sister school in Vigo, one of the foremost British schools in the Galicia region. Founded more than 8 years ago this progressive school with strong family values has delivered the English National Curriculum to hundreds of students and has evolved to meet the needs of modern learners. We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Special Educational Needs Teacher:
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as a Second Language (ESL) learners in a secondary school setting across KS3 and KS4.
- Ability to deliver differentiated lessons and targeted interventions for pupils with diverse SEND profiles (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD) and varying stages of English language proficiency.
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding procedures, inclusive teaching strategies, and effective ESL methodologies.
- Skilled in planning and delivering learning programmes that promote academic progress, language development (speaking, listening, reading, writing), and emotional regulation.
- Competent in implementing structured routines, behaviour‑support strategies, and effective classroom management to support SEN and ESL learners.
- Proficient in adapting curriculum content and learning materials to remove barriers and ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills, including lesson planning, assessment, progress monitoring, and coordination with SEN/EAL teams and pastoral staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with pupils, parents/carers (including families with varied English proficiency), teachers, and external professionals.
- Confident using assessment data to inform personalised learning plans and track outcomes for both SEN pupils and ESL learners, ensuring targeted, evidence‑based interventions.
