Sports Academy Director

We are seeking an ambitious, energetic and forward-thinking Sports Academy Director to lead the next stage of development in sport, enrichment and academy provision across the school.

This is a unique opportunity to launch and shape a long-term Sports Academy programme within one of Portugal’s leading international school environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening school sport, developing high-quality student experiences and building external partnerships and pathways.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the launch and development of the school’s Sports Academy programme

Develop student pathways across participation, development and elite performance sport

Strengthen competitive sport, fixtures, tournaments and the wider sporting culture of the school

Build relationships with external clubs, academies and sporting organisations

Support the development of ECAs, sports camps and wider enrichment provision

Work closely with school leadership on the long-term strategy and growth of sport within the school

Lead coaches and external providers where appropriate

Ensure high standards of safeguarding, organisation and student wellbeing

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience in sports leadership, coaching, academy development or athletic programme management

Strong organisational, communication and relationship-building skills

The ability to inspire students and build high-quality programmes

A passion for sport, student development and opportunity

Experience within an international school or performance sport environment is desirable
